#106 - Always Sucking It Up/In

Recently I've been doing a lot of traveling for work (yes, work has kept me from posting due to my crazy 60-70 hr/week work schedule). Once again I found myself squeezing into airplane seat after airplane seat. And every time it's sssuuuucccckkkk in the gut to buckle the seat belt. And when someone sits next to me, as is so common these days on cramped flights, I suck it in even more to make sure I'm not encroaching on my seat mate's personal space. Then as I walk through airport terminals and catch sight of myself in the shiny plate-glass windows, I notice I'm all slouchy and fat and suck my gut in an attempt to shed a few virtual pounds to those around me. I had a recent client meeting which required me to wear my little (well OK, "big") black suit. All I can say is thank God I over pack when I travel, cause I slipped on my fancy slacks to find that no amount of sucking in my gut would make them comfortably fit. Ugh. I had to opt for a miss-matched pair of comfy black slacks (yay for stretch fabrics) to go with my black blazer. All this sucking it in really... well... sucks! For once I'd like to be comfortable with my tummy as is with no suckage required.

And the sucking doesn't stop there. OK that sounded perverse... Get your mind out of the gutter! It's much more than the physical sucking in of my gut, it's also mental. When heading out to my last client meeting, surveying my look in the hotel mirror, and sighing yet again about how fat I looked, I just had to tell myself, "Yup, you're fat, deal with it, suck it up." I find that when physically sucking it in fails to satisfy my need to "look" thinner, eventually I admit defeat and suck it up to gain enough confidence to face my day. I hate that I'm settling for the body I have and have to "deal" with it. As I've said many times in the past, I'm not looking to be skinny, just comfortable in my own skin. I don't want to settle for the big body I have, I don't want to have to keeping sucking it up to deal with my emotions. Don't get me wrong, I don't just suck it up in the sense that I'm burying my emotions or anything. I hate it, it sucks. But you have to go about your life, and on those days you feel bad about the way you look, life is still moves forward, and sometimes you have to put those feelings of self-doubt aside. I applaud myself for the fact that in the past, sucking it up used to mean saying, "Whoa is me, now where are the brownies?" Now, I still say, "Whoa is me..." But now I think about how the hell I'm going to fix this? (sans brownies) I at least recognize the fact that a pan of brownies will only make my situation worse.

So what am I doing about it? Hmm... let me think... I know this one... Oh yeah... not a lot! OK I know that is totally the wrong answer, but it's the truth. I'm not doing a lot right now. I've gotten a decent handle on my diet: forgoing massive quantities of sweet, eating whole grains, *trying* to eat more fruits and veggies (hey at least I'm trying), and listening to when my body feels full. Doing this, I've maintained my weight loss for over 2 years. But I'm seriously lacking in the exercise department, which is the ONLY way I'll start losing weight again. The fiance and I got memberships to a local gym. That was a big step for me. Problem is... That's the closest step I've made to the gym! It's been 3 months and we have yet to go for a workout. I know, I'm bad! I am so exercise-a-phobic. I just hate it. All that hard work and sweating, bah! Can I just sit on the couch? Of course I know the answer to that question. Sure, I can keep on sitting as long as I'm fine with settling for my big bootie, because apparently it's impossible to suck in your butt!

Apparently the only way I can fix this is to suck it up... suck up my fear of exercise and get moving! Because no amount of sucking it in will ever make me lose another 100 pounds!

I just put my gym membership on hold because I wasn't using it; I'd thought that shelling out the money every month would make me more likely to go, but no dice. When I DID go, I loved swimming and sitting in the hot tub ... but I'm so busy that trying to schedule for it just made me feel worse about not having the time to go, so I gave in. Maybe once this semester is over .... if I haven't gone and gotten another tattoo that I can't get wet for a month!

I hate sucking in my belly, i dont know why i do it doesnt really make that much difference and yet its still a habit lol.
But in a bid to get healthy i am now swimming almost every day for an hour fingers crossed it helps :)

Two years ago, I lost fifty of the 100 I have to lose, quit smoking and gained half of it back.
I have been struggling to lose it once again.
I think I may have found the answer. Nothing worked - not my clothes not fitting, not the struggling to fit anywhere...What may have finally worked? Seeing myself naked in a full length mirror. By accident - trust me - I don't think I have actually looked at myself naked in ten years. That will bring you crashing into reality.

A few recommendations: The book Diets Don't Work by Bob Schwartz, which illustrates well eating for hunger versus eating for emotional hunger.

Gary Taubes' Good Calories, Bad Calories, which lays out the evidence that it's carbohydrate consumption that causes the insulin secretion that puts on fat.

Dr. Michael Eades' blog, proteinpower.com/drmike

I put my boyfriend on a no-carb diet for a month: bacon, eggs, steak, and hamburger ONLY (because any carbs diminish the weight loss considerably), and he lost 17 lbs in a month and had his blood pressure go from high to near normal.

Best wishes with this.

I can totally relate to the airplane experience. I myself have required a seat belt extender in the past, and even went so far as to buy my own so I wouldn't have to ask for one on the plane. Great memories.

never been on a plane and i quit sucking when i was a teenager. i wear stretch :)but the fat thing...i am terrified i won't get a job looking (and feeling) like this. it's a gloomy existance being fat and having no job. i dread going on a job hunt. THE LOOKS!!! awww...... the rejection. the awareness that people are right ... you are lucky - very lucky. you have a job and you have a life...good for you!

I am right there with you regarding no exercise. I just can't seem to get motivated to start. The reason your blog title caught my eye is that I was hoping you would have some magic suggestion for me to help me start losing 40 pounds....sigh

Well done for the changes you have made so far in your diet; as you said yourself, things like eating more fruit and veg are definate steps in the right direction. When you make good choices like these, you're empowering yourself. Remember, you're in control!! I hope your plan to face the exercise fear works out great, best of luck!

I hate the way I look and the way I feel. But just can't seem to get motivated to move. Sucking sucks.

Have you thought about exercising at home? That could be helpful. On the days that I don't feel like sucking it in a wear a girdle. Sounds funny and so 1950's but it works everytime and you won't have to worry about sucking it in when you have it on.

BTW..I am hosting a 10 pound weight loss competition. Some cool prizes and cash to be won! Check out my blog. It might get you off the couch:)

firstly, yay! I finally made it to the end of your blog lol. I've been bookmarking what page I'm up to, and slowly working through it over the last few weeks. Was a great read, and can't wait for the book! (congrats on that btw).
Secondly, I am with you on the gym front, for sure! But, unfortunately exercise is necessary when your trying to lose weight. Maybe start of a bit easier on yourself by going for a walk with fiance (congrats on that) every night, and just bump up your regular time on the eliptical (or get back to it if you haven't been using it of late). But yourself some small handheld weights to take with you on your walk so your getting some slight strength training in with your cardio, helps to burn the fat a little faster :)
Congrats again on all of your hard work and effort so far, you may be in a bit of a slump right now, but you really have done an amazing job! But time to get serious again and start moving! (I'm talking to myself here as much as you hehe). btw, are you still on SL? would love to say g'day to you on there :)

I feel the same way when I take an airplane. Last time, the seat belt wouldn't buckle because it was too short, no matter how much I sucked it in! I cried the entire take-off and went seat belt-less for an 8 hour plane ride. Not good. Good luck with the rest of your travels and future weight loss!

Hey Kitty, the only thing you are lacking is a good coach, who can help you change your association to exercise. Exercise is fun and easy and once you rewire your neural pathways to believing that, there will be no stopping you!

I too am not a big fan of exercise. I have lost 155 pounds to date and my exercise now is HIIT. I can do it for less time and still get results. And the best part is I do it at home for free :D

Good luck with your goals *hugs*

where do I start, I could write my story and it could be the sequel to your book. I don't exercise, I eat junk, and basically don't go out of the house. My life is a bit depressing at the moment.

Hey there! I've been a long time reader, first time commenter. I just want you to know that I find relief in the fact that others struggle with weight like I have! And brownies are totally my food/drug of choice too. :)

My hub and I just started with a nutritionist and he is having us work out 5 days a week (blah), but we are at the gym for less than 45 minutes every day. Having someone to be accountable to has been the only thing so far to keep me on track.

Best of luck with your goals! We'll all be supporting you!

I hear you out on this. I'm always doing the same thing everyday, both physically and mentally. It's just hard to deal with mentally because I have those same thoughts almost everyday. Makes you wonder when it's just going to end, but that's quite unrealistic. You're right; you just have to deal with it.

I love the honesty in which you are telling your story. Well done on what you have accomplished so far. Losing weight is hard and having the motivation for it is also hard, but keep at it. I have lost 15 pounds since Oct 2009, from healthy eating, but most of it was because I started exercising and reduced my alcohol intake.

Again, I love your blog, and I am definitely coming back.

ok sorry but you say you want to lose weight yet you hate exercising. I mean if you would really want to lose weight you would lose it. I just see a bunch of lame excuses and self loathing. Sorry for being too blunt.

I completely understand your apprehension of the gym as it can be an intimidating place to start an exercise program. Plus there's no accountability or support. Look around for private facilities that offer "group training" which is becoming increasingly popular. The can be surprisingly affordable due to the group nature and they provide several things the gyms don't. Privacy, support, accountability, instruction, motivation, and a non-intimidating environment.

I have had so many struggles in the past and currently due to weight loss. I am currently a member of weight watchers and have been doing the program for the past year. I found this was the best way for me to lose weight the healthy way. I have taken supplements but they only cause you to gain weight again in the long run, sometimes double the weight you had lost! So Weight Watchers had become the perfect choice for me. I would suggest weight loss to anyone who is serious about losing weight! It worked for me and I am currently at a plateau where I feel so busy that I can not continue to lose weight. But busy should be no excuse!!!! I have learned that you are never too busy for yourself and you need to put yourself first!
Here a couple tips I have picked up in the past year that has helped me stay on track and even though its a little harder for me to lose weight right now, I am holding my current weight instead of gaining it all back.

-- Be prepared!! If you always buy lunch while at work, STOP! Eating at work my biggest problem. Bring a lunch!! Lean cuisne, smart ones and all those frozen meals, are actually good. Find the ones you like and stick to them! Or make a sandwich, you would be surprised on how low in calories some lunchmeat can be! Also make it on Arnold's sandwich things, they are under 100 calories and are pretty good, you can put anything on these, from lunchmeat to a hamburger!
...Also with being prepared, bag snacks ahead of time so its easier to throw into your purse. Example: Baggies filled with baby carrots, cut up fruit, almonds...ect.
**Also 100 calorie packs, work wonders...they are the perfect snack at lunch or in the middle of the day!

Another thing I learned...MEASURE, MEASURE MEASURE!...
Dont just pour your cereal or milk in your bowl until it looks good...measure out the serving size, you will actually be surprised how much you get and how satisfied you can be!

Also, working out is key!
You don't need an expensive gym membership to work out. Use your stairs for 15 minutes. Lift cans of food...take a walk...ride a bike...activity also counts with social activities such as dancing or bowling. Moving is a big part of losing weight!

These are just a few things I have picked up in the past...I know I should probably practice what I preach huh? But I have been trying =) Keeping a positive attitude will keep your weight loss a success. Don't pick all the bad things you've done...but look at all the acomplishments you have already achieved! And things like that will keep you motivated!

You can not let things like "that time of the month" or work hold you back from what you really want in life! Do this for you! And anyone can achieve any goal they set their mind to!
With all this being said, I leave you with a quote that is a sticker on my Weight Watcher booklet:
"One cookie won't ruin my day, One missed workout won't ruin my week...One day won't ruin my journey"

Good Luck to all!!!!

I love your blog.I to struggle with weight- blowing out my knee set me up for a huge backslide in the weight department. Then I had surgery for it and 2 more after that--hence 60 pounds I can not shed.I can not do high impact and walking 3 miles makes my knee swell. I am married to a really skinny guy who can eat anything and never complains.I have a berating relative that is a size 00 and always wonderd how she did it-- she says you can chuck the weight if you try-- well sticking 3 fingers down my throat is not something I can do sorry. She then eats a sleeve of cookies and again three fingers in the throat.I would rather be heavy. Her berating me in front of my family just makes me hate her.For people who say you can just loose it-- someday you will face a problem and people will say you can just overcome it.Think about what comes out of your mouth before you judge others. You could be in our shoes someday.Oh and the puking relative says that when people come to her gym and they are fat she would like the power to ask them leave as they make her sick......and people wonder why chubbies do not like to go to the gym.

The Reason For Obesity

Let’s face it. Who wants to be fat, especially women. It is a known fact that obesity in this country has become an epidemic. Why? If you look at TV, you will notice the media is constantly bombarding us with ads about food.

Why are advertising agencies flooding us with so many TV commercials about food, especially about McDonald’s or Burger King? The simple fact is they want you to get fat so you will go out and spend more money on diet pills. This way you can get skinny and then start all over by going back to the fast food joints to get fat again. It is a catch-22 scenario. It is a vicious cycle.

Understand one fact. The heath condition of the majority of people in developed nations has deteriorated to such an extent that it has literally become a crisis. According to experts, about 70% of the adult population living in the U.S is overweight. This means if you are thin and healthy you make up the minority.

This is a sad fact and something that needs to change. To think that the normal way to live is to be out of shape, overweight, and have all kinds of diseases? It is insanity. To think that nine out of ten people are obese is a bad stat. And this is what this country is leading to.

Why is this country leaning toward getting fat? It is because most of us live sedentary lives. Kids are not spending their time running around and playing games outside. Instead, they jump on their video games or spend time surfing the Internet and chatting with friends or others.

Besides the above, people are getting fatter because of the way they eat. They try to grab something quick and end up eating something they should not. Everything that is bought from the store is processed. It is refined. Most foods are packed with chemicals to preserve them for shelf life. We live in a fast-paced world. For this reason people claim they don’t have time to cook or are too tired to. So they grab quick junk foods from corner stores, fast food joints, and restaurants.

The plain and simple fact is that people have become lazy. In order to get out of that, you need to push yourself to maintain your control. You have to ac t responsibly.

The solution to being overweight is simple. Make smarter food choices, prepare your own meals, and get out and exercise. If you do this, you won’t have to worry about being fat.

You made a statement I totally agree with. You do not need to be skinny, you need to be happy in your skin.

Once you figure out how to be happy with yourself, you will start losing the weight. You will find ways to exercise and you will find ways to eat what is right.

Feelings follow thought. Therefore, if you want to change your feelings, change the way you think about yourself.

Best Wishes

Been there too, Kitty. I always think about what people think about me invading half of their seats in a bus because of me being, well, overweight. Going to the gym isn't the only effective way to lose weight. You need to consider your food intake as well as changing the way you look at food and diet (psychologists call it cognitive thought reconstruction). Seeing a nutritionist for diet counselling can be of great help too. It's not a sin to just sit on the couch, but health is more important especially that (I know this is a cliche) obesity leads to other serious illness like hypertension. Well, best of luck Kitty!

P.S. You have a very good blog. Nice writing. :)

Hi, Jenny.

I just found your blog tonight and I'm so glad I did. I think I made it to about #84 and you've said everything that I've been thinking and never knew how to put in words.

I've been fat my whole life and I hate being fat for the same reasons you list. I've always been the fat one in my family and I feel so ashamed sometimes. All of my cousins look like underwear models and I'm so jealous of them.

I'm 28, 5'3", and 230 pounds. I've never been weighed so much in my life. Every day, I say enough is enough and every week, I gain more weight. I never thought I'd see the day when I thought being 200 pounds was a good thing. I never wanted to reach that weight and now I have and bypassed it months ago.

I like eating healthy foods (love blueberries) but end up eating fast food the whole week. I don't like myself enough to treat myself well.

Thank you for writing your blog. I think it really resonates with a lot of people.

It is great that you are trying to motivate yourself for exercise. I am not into running at all but I am big into cycling which is great living in Holland!!

A healthy balanced diet is so important so is exercise. I exercise daily and eat healthy but I still find it difficult to lose weight and find that I am maintaining my weight.

Recently I tried a weightloss patch which is herbal, I am very sceptical of these type of products and researched all of the ingredients and found nothing alarming.

I first ordered some of these over a year ago and was very happy, I found that I wasn't hungry all the time. The first time I used them I lost about 5 kilo and I started using them again recently and within 3-4 weeks I had lost 3 kilos 6.6 pounds (according to a web converter)

One of the most significant differences I noticed was the change in my mood and how I felt full of energy. I rarely pick up colds or flu now which is great!

BTW I am not internet spam but would love others to take a look and consider using this as a supplement to a healthy lifestyle, it is working for me! Let me know how you get on.

I found that I had to work much harder at 106.5 kg than I do now as a slimmer person. I was always tired and had no energy. My size contributed to other health problems which resulted in me needing operations which impacted on my ability to live and do my job.

Even though I am a confident person, I felt self-conscious about myself when in a public forum which was a large part of my work. I actually missed out on a work promotion which made me question myself and my whole life. After much thought I decided that I needed to put as much effort into my health and personal life as I did my work. I soon realised that improving this area in my life would have a positive effect on many other areas of my life as well.

We need to suck it up versus sucking it in. I agree that exercise is a must but it doesn't have to be all crazy ... in the past I have been an avid exerciser (yah thoese rare moments when I was in the zone!) so this time when I decided to change my life, I started with....... walking! I was a runner in the past and always thought walking was for sissies. Boy was I wrong. Not only did it help me ease into exercise, it's helped my achy joints, helped take some inches off, boosted my morale by a ton and helped my doggie too!

My advice, start slow, go for walks with you're fiance and enjoy. It's a start! :)

I can completely relate to this! Especially the whole thing about having to suck in weight and pants not fitting. I lost 50 lbs in the past year from watching my calories but it definitely plateaued a few months ago from lack of exercise. I took a jogging class for school credits that were required and it was the best thing that I could have done! I didn't have the option not to go because attendance was mandatory. I found that having someone hold me accountable was the only thing that could make me start exercising. Now I exercise on my own all the time!

Congrats for keeping all of that weight off for 2 years. Maintenance is the hardest part and it sounds like you're already there. The exercise will be the easiest part, you just don't realize it yet. The hardest part is the walk/ drive to the gym. After that it's not nearly as bad. Maybe sign up for a training session or something that will force you to go.

Keep in mind that at a lower weight, you'd need less calories anyways - your metabolism is depressed, you're not carrying as much weight and therefore not burning as much over the day, and you've lost some muscle along with fat. So plateauing is normal.

Instead of going to the gym, why not make small habit changes in your lifestyle to get more active? It's easier to get exercise in the long run when you're doing it for a purpose other than exercise, such as shopping or sightseeing or just getting fresh air. Leave the car or park further away and walk to more places (work, shopping, cinema etc), take leisurely walks after dinner, lift weights when you watch tv, take the stairs rather than the elevator, play Wii fit, go hiking etc.

Here is how to lose weight without all the pain and hassles.

Find a free online metabolic calculator and calculate your metabolic rate/daily calories required to maintain your current weight. This is a good one. http://www.stevenscreek.com/goodies/calories.shtml

Eat at your basal metabolic rate and no lower during the weight loss process. Your BMR will decrease as you lose weight. This is normal so after each 10 pounds of weight loss you will need to recalculate.

If you are losing more than 1 pound per week per 100 pounds of body weight you need to eat more. This is not a war against fat. This is reforming habits so you can attain good health.

Gosh this was a real reminder for me of how it used to be. I just saw a photo of me the other day when I was sucking my stomach in as though it was going to make me slimmer! Now the only time I pull my stomach in is to exercise my muscles! In certain skirts if I pulled my stomach in my skirt would fall down as I've lost so much weight.

Thanks for the reminder of why I am in recovery from my binge eating

60-70 hour work weeks is brutal. Most people don't realize the key to losing weight is in doing full body, multi-jointed workouts. When you put strain on your whole body, you lose the most weight (duh). Examples of this can be sprinting and mountain climbers

Well dear…Working out is essential and even vital if you are a woman. I know that being a man and a doctor. I have lost lots of weight three times in my life. First time when I was sent to an Army boarding school. I did not follow any diet but lost pounds like never before and never again since then because of all the physical activities there. Then the second time I did it in 1997-98…I am not sure which year it was but then I used to lose about a kg everyday. I used to run a lot, train in the gym a lot, played a lot of basketball and ate very little but it sure worked and I lost way more than my target weight. The third time I did it in 2004 when I started training in very cold Siberian weather. Going to the gym in temperatures below -30 degrees Celsius was an adventure I used to endeavor everyday but I did it and lost more than 45 kg and was very happy with my physique but of course some very strict diet was also involved.
Exercise and lots of it for all the muscle groups (possible) and all the body parts is very important because you might have seen some videos or pictures of people who somehow lost hundreds of extra pounds and their previously overextended skin could not keep up with the rapid loss of fat tissue underneath. I am sure you don’t want that so just get a treadmill and do some cardio on it whenever feasible for you in the day and do not forget to lift some light weights for all your body parts. Remember that doing lots of exercise for your tummy and chest is very very important if you don’t want the skin to sag after you are done losing that fat. You don’t want to end up losing all those pounds and looking at yourself in the mirror in your shower, saying…”Shit…I was better off being fat. At least the skin didn’t sack like that”. Do you???

Unknown said...

I hear that so many times from family and friend about not wanting to exercise or having the time. Really though you have to make a change one way or the other either eat better or exercise more. Though the combination of both is really the most effective way.

Exercising shouldn't be the task we have made it out to be. I remember when half the thing we do now as adult for exercise or working out use to be fun.

I did weight watchers. it worked, but It took FOREVER. last year, a month before my best friend's wedding I wanted to lose 11 Pounds, and my mom found this diet that works fast. I lost 10 Pounds in about 20 days, and it wasn't one of them creazy low carb diets or anything. they give you this menu that you need to follow, and it menipulates your hormones, and forces your body to burn fat. here's a realy cool website I found about this diet- some girl tried this diet, and she created a blog and reported every single day untill she reached her goal weight. check it out- this diet is easy to follow and I lost the weight fast and haven't gained it back since :)

Hello there, my name is Edward Platz. And I have to say that you are an inspiration to me as I am also a former overweight man.
Two years ago, I was overweight and have all the related problems: health problems, family problems, emotional problems…
At this very day, after 15 months of smart fitness training, not only that I have lost 54 pounds of body fat, but I also succeeded in building a lean and much stronger physique. I am in the best shape of my life and as healthy as I can be!
I am a 36 year old man and a full time single parent of a 7-year-old daughter. I have a very demanding job. And, according to my doctor, my biological age is now, no more then 27! In addition, my ex-wife thinks I am super hot…
Well, what do you think about that? …No, not about the “ex-wife thing”…
At this very moment, I can live the life most people cannot, because I decided to do what most people do not: start a very smart fitness program and a tasty diet plan.
So, please Be Strong and Patient! Persevere!

If you are realy serious about losing weight: 1. start eating healthier foods instead of processed foods.
2. Exercise vigorously. Why do you think runners look super ripped and other athletes. Mix strength training with endurance to lose weight and build your condition.
3. drink plenty of water . This ensures your system stays clear of toxins, and helps your digestive process work better.

Flying has to be one of my worst issues with obesity. I'm sure I should priorize those with health attachments, but to me, it's the humiliation of the belt extender and having the people who sit in the next seat act like I'm some kind of criminal. I am mightily motivated to lose enough to not need a belt extender next time I fly.

I totally know what it's like to hate the gym - I did until I discovered "group exercise" a couple of years ago. I don't know if your gym offers classes (zumba or others) - if they do, check one out - bring a friend if you're nervous. I can almost guarantee that it can be addictive. For years, I despised exercise in any form and now when I can't go for a few weeks (because "life" will get in the way) I get upset! Another thing that worked for me was walking. People think I'm a little crazy that I walk to/from work (about 30 min each way). I hate it, but it saves me money on transit/parking so I keep doing it - and hey, guess what - it's considered execise. And the last thing that I would recommend is YOGA. Find a normal, down to earth studio (not one with a bunch of pretentious skinny girls!). Due to surgery I couldn't work out for months and the weight started to creep back up. I started going to yoga (low impact) religiously - it's very relaxing once you get into it. It helped me maintain my weight and made me feel good about myself. People say it doesn't help you burn fat, but all those poses use your core and it helps you tighten up and improves posture! It's a weird feeling, I can be in the worst "i hate me" mood - but I always leave yoga class happier :)

HI there exercise-a-phobic. My name is Pono. I have a blog that narrates my weight loss journey into skinny-dum. You know, the place where skinny people reside in perpetual happiness stuffing their faces glutonously with everything they want while maintaining that chiselled jaw line and tiny waist....yeah, you know what I'm talking about. Hey, I'm gonna follow you and give you encouragement. You need to find your motivation. What is most dear to your heart and do it for that reason alone. I have a blog called iwannabeaskinnyaire.wordpress.com. Come check me out. I even post photos of the body I am losing to obtain a much more attractive one. Follow my ups and downs. It becomes very intimate at times with very personal feelings of embarrassment, fear, triumph and self-esteem. I think we can really give each other the boost the other needs. Exercise does suck, but you will get to a point where it doesn't, but becomes necessary! Happy journeying!

There is always an answer to the problem. Being fat is not bad and one should not be shy of this fact. What required is you have to solve this problem. You need to be physically fit, exercise daily and have to have a positive attitude towards your goal.

I know it's hard to lose weight win our society is surrounded by cheap and fast food that is severly lacking vital nutrients.

However, I have been finding out that the more I learn about nutrition from reading new studies on it, the more I find myself eating healthy because in the back of my mind I start remembering different studies I read like "hey eating eggs has been shown to be worse for your heart health than smoking cigarettes" or "Blueberries and hibiscus tea are some of the most anti-oxidant rich cancer protecting foods known to man."

Focus on increasing your vitality and your looks will follow. Keep up the good work though :)
